Here at Uppingham Surgery, we are regularly facing work force shortages with staff having to self-isolate or who are unwell with COVID which has put additional pressure on our already stretched services.
Staff are working longer hours and becoming mentally and physically exhausted due to the high demand for clinical care.
Our appointment availability is based on the number of staff we have on the day, and whilst we have identified safe staffing levels to meet demand, we are not always able to sustain the level we would like.
We are sorry to say that we are at a stage now where we feel our workload is such that we are unlikely to be working safely and effectively due to the high demand for appointments at the practice.
We appreciate that this will have an impact on our patients, but we are asking you to help us provide a service to those who are greatest in need by listening to the advice given to you by our experienced Patient Services Team. This will help us provide a safe, efficient, and equitable service to all our patients and helps us provide a robust service for groups of patients whose healthcare needs make them more vulnerable e.g., the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and patients with a palliative condition.
When all our appointments are fully booked for the day you will be offered and appointment in advance, asked to ring back the next day or advised to access healthcare via one of the following options:

We are confident you will be supportive of our practice as we do our utmost to serve our patients in these challenging times.
We hope that these Emergency measures will not last for a prolonged period and would ask for your support and understanding as we try to provide you with the best service possible under extremely difficult and constantly changing circumstances.
Thank you for your continued support.
