Summary

Uppingham Surgery is seeking a Phlebotomist to support our busy training practice of 11,800 patients within our multidisciplinary team.

Phlebotomy qualification or aspiration to complete phlebotomy training

Experience of a similar role

Delivery of safe patient centric care

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Positive and proactive approach to work, with the ability to work under pressure

Experience of working in a team and using your own initiative

Ability to abide by strict confidentiality and information governance compliance and the responsibility this brings

Hours

Up to 25 hours per week Monday to Friday, 8am – 1pm.

Candidates must be flexible to cover annual leave and absence as directed by the Practice Nurse Manager.

Job Description

Your role includes the following areas of responsibility:

Performing venepuncture in line with practice protocols

Correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples

Effect use of specimen log, resolving any potential discrepencies

Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner

Accurately read-coding data on SystmOne into the patient record

Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions

Reviewing new records and accurately maintaining a summary of the patient’s medical history

Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff at Univeristy Hospitals of Leicester

Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters

Follow, review and update the practice coding policy as required (in conjunction with the Practice, Business and Nurse Managers)
