Summary

Uppingham Surgery is seeking a Clinical Coder to join our expanding team, supporting our busy training practice of 11,800 patients within our multidisciplinary team.

Hours

Up to 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. Candidates must be flexible to cover annual leave and absence as directed by the Management Team.

Job Description

Accurately read-coding data on SystmOne into the patient record

Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions

Reviewing new records and accurately maintaining a summary of the patient’s medical history

Follow Practice & PCN workflow policies and protocols, ensuring documents are forwarded appropriately

Input and extract data as required to support practice reports such as QoF and recall systems

File and store records as required, maintaining paper record filing system

Action all incoming electronic documents, emails and mail in a timely manner

Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient’s healthcare records

Review records for newly registered patient, ensuring relevant codes are ‘flagged’, any concerns are raised and obsolete recalls/alerts removed

Carry out system searches as requested

Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested

Review and update the practice coding policy as required (in conjunction with the Practice, Business and PCN Managers)

Support reception staff, providing cover during staff absences

Secretarial training will be provided to the right candidate

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Excellent administrative skills; a proven record in Primary Care an advantage

Positive and proactive approach to work, with the ability to work under pressure

Experience of working in a team and using your own initiative

Ability to abide by strict confidentiality and information governance compliance and the responsibility this brings
